Regolamento



The Italian Society of Histochemistry and the European Journal of Histochemistry have jointly established the "Maffo Vialli International Award for Histochemistry", to honour the pioneering and fundamental contribution of Prof. Vialli to the progress of biomedical science. His development of histochemical methods and technology and his application of these in research and practice, were integrated by him with different other approaches in the study of cell biology. Following his unitary interpretation of life, many scientists of different backgrounds have been focusing their attention on histo- and cytochemistry.

The Award shall be assigned every two years, starting from 1999, to an individual scientist of international reputation whose work, in the judgement of the Nomination Committee, has signified outstanding progress in basic and/or applied research on cell biology through any kind of histochemical research.

There shall be no restrictions on the nationality of the recipient. The winner of the Award shall be presented with a non pecuniary commemorative symbol of recognition He or she shall be invited to deliver a "Maffo Vialli Lecture" , preferably at the Meeting of the Italian Society of Histochemistry. The full text of the lecture shall be published in the European Journal of Histochemistry.

The assignation of the Award will be determined by a Nomination Committee consisting of the Board of Governors of the Italian Society of Histochemistry, the board of Editors of the Journal European Journal of Histochemistry and four scientists internationally renowned and active in Histochemistry . The award shall be advertised in the European Journal of Histochemistry.

Nominations, to be received al least 6 months before the assignment of the Award , must include the motivation, and also the position, a short curriculum and the full address of the nominee.
